About us

GateOdds is operated by an individual, referred to in these terms as “we”, “us” or “our”. You can contact us at support@gateodds.com.

Who may use the site

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the site.
• Access is by approved account only. Anyone may ask for an account; we decide, at our discretion, whether to approve it and which parts of the site it may open. We may decline a request without giving a reason.
• Your account is for you alone. You must not share it, or let anyone else use the site through it.
• The site is currently free of charge. If that ever changes, we will tell you before anything is charged.

Your account and password

Keep your password confidential and do not give it to anyone. If you know or suspect that someone else knows your password or has used your account, change it and tell us straight away at support@gateodds.com.

We may suspend or close any account at any time if, in our reasonable opinion, these terms have not been followed, or if we stop offering the site.

What the site is — and what it is not

GateOdds presents information about horse racing in Hong Kong: race cards, results, sectional times, odds and dividends, horse, jockey and trainer records, and our own ratings, studies and explanations built from them.

• We do not take bets. You cannot place a bet on GateOdds, and we have no part in any bet you place elsewhere.
• Nothing on the site is betting, financial or professional advice, or a recommendation to bet. Ratings, percentiles, colours, studies and explanations are information and opinion, not predictions or promises of any result. Pages that explain how betting works are for education only.
• If you bet, you do so entirely at your own risk and responsibility, and only where it is legal for you to do so. Please bet responsibly.

Where the information comes from

The racing information on the site comes from information published by The Hong Kong Jockey Club. GateOdds is independent: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to The Hong Kong Jockey Club. Figures such as ratings, percentiles and studies are our own calculations from that information.

We try hard to keep the information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee it. It may contain errors or gaps, may be out of date at any given time, and is updated on our own schedule. Always check anything that matters to you with the official source.

How you may use the content

The site is for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not:

• copy, download in bulk, republish, sell, share or redistribute the site’s content or data, in whole or in part;
• use any robot, scraper, script or other automated means to access, collect or copy the site or its data;
• use the site’s content for any commercial purpose without our written permission;
• try to get into parts of the site, accounts, servers or databases you have not been given access to, or interfere with the site’s security or working;
• introduce viruses or other harmful material, or attack the site in any way.

You may print or save a page for your own personal reference. If you use the site in breach of these terms, your right to use it ends immediately.

Intellectual property

The site’s design, text, ratings, studies, explanations and software are ours, and all rights in them are reserved. The underlying racing information, and images such as racing silks, belong to The Hong Kong Jockey Club or to other owners. Nothing in these terms gives you any right in any of it beyond using the site as these terms allow.

Your information

To give you an account we keep your name, your email address and your sign-in details; your password is stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that cannot be read back. We use them to run your account, to approve your access and to send you the emails the site needs, such as invitations and password resets.

• Accounts are managed through Supabase and emails are sent through Resend, on our behalf. The site runs on a server in the United States.
• The site uses a cookie to keep you signed in, and one that remembers this browser has signed in before (so the sign-in form is shown first); your browser also remembers your choice of light or dark display. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
• We do not sell your information or share it with anyone except as described here, or where the law requires it.
• You can ask us to correct your details or to close your account and delete them at any time by writing to support@gateodds.com.

Availability and changes

We may update, change, suspend or withdraw all or any part of the site at any time, without notice. We do not guarantee that the site, or any content on it, will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors or viruses, and we are not responsible if it is unavailable at any time or for any period. You are responsible for your own equipment, internet access and virus protection.

Limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations, whether express or implied, including any about accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind — including any betting loss, loss of profits, or any indirect or consequential loss — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, or from your reliance on any of its content, even if it was foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Links to other websites are for your convenience only. We have no control over them and are not responsible for their content.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page; the date at the top shows when they last changed. Please check this page from time to time. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the site, are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and any such dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in California. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
